Al grew up in Madison, Wisconsin and graduated from the Honors Program at the University of Wisconsin where he obtained degrees in psychology and sociology. After graduating and moving to Massachusetts he worked for 18 years as a Mental Health Counselor & 10 years as a Financial Advisor, all the while teaching tennis part time, the sport he loves.
He founded the very successful Jamaica Plain tennis program in the late 90s which grew to be the largest outdoor full-time summer tennis camp for kids in Boston.
Al has been a USPTA Certified Elite Teaching Professional for 25 yrs and was formerly ranked in the top 30 of the USTA’s Men’s Open Singles division. He has coached all levels of women’s teams in DBH, CMITA, and USTA leagues with numerous teams winning the league and even national championships.
When he’s not on court Al is an avid Patriots and Green Bay Packers fan. He also enjoys going to movies and eating out and spending time with friends.
