Swim Lesson FAQ

Due to Covid-19, we will not be running group lessons this Fall. If you are interested in lessons, we will be offering Aquatic Personal Training for swimmers and non-swimmers. This program is perfect for kids just learning to swim or for those more advanced looking to refine their technique. To register please contact our Swim Lesson Coordinator, Karen Kandola, via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

How do I register for classes/submit registration form? (general info)
You can register for classes by completely filling out the lesson registration form (one form per child) and submitting it via email to our Swim Lesson Coordinator, or by dropping the form at the front desk.
When do I submit my registration form?
Once registration opens, you may submit your registration form at any time. The first week of each registration period is reserved for member registrations. Please note, non-members may drop off their forms during the member registration week, but they will not be processed until the member registration period has ended.
How will I know if I got into a class/When will I hear?
You will receive a confirmation email once your child has been placed in a class and you have been charged for the session. Classes run if 2 or more swimmers are registered in a lesson. Payments are not processed until the swimmers’ class has two or more swimmers registered. It takes a few weeks for the registration process to play out. The registrations form lists the likely notification date.

What if my top 3 choices are taken?
If your top three choices are taken you will be contacted to discuss other lesson options.

May I walk in and register on the day of class?
We do not offer walk in registrations for any of our lessons.

May I request a specific instructor?
We do not accept instructor requests for our group lesson program. Lessons are assigned to our staff based on the needs of the children in each class. If you would like a lesson with a specific instructor our private lesson program may be able to accommodate your request depending on our instructor’s availability.

Class Information

What is the swimmer : instructor ratio?
Our class ratios are as follows:

Waterbabies - 7:1 Swimmer to Instructor (Parent in water with child)
Starfish and Guppies - 4:1 Swimmer to Instructor
Ray and Sharks – 5:1 Swimmer to Instructor
Coached Swim Clinic – 8:1 Swimmer to Instructor
Can my 2.5-year-old be in the starfish class?
All children in the starfish class must be 3 years old by the start date of the class. We have found children under 3 are unable to follow directions or the safety information we teach in our Starfish level. Safety is out top priority in all classes

Can my child wear a floatie/life vest in the lessons?
Because the goal of our lesson program is to teach kids to swim in a safe manner without the aid of flotation devices, floaties or life jackets are not allowed in our lessons.

Outliers: Young kids who swim above average / older kids who swim below average?
Please contact the Swim Lesson Coordinator to discuss options if your child is highly skilled for their age or may be behind in swim skills for their age.

General Information

What is your make up policy?
We do not offer make up lessons unless lessons are cancelled by the club. We maintain the swimmer: teacher ratios to ensure the safety of all swimmers. If 20 minutes of the lesson has been completed prior to cancellation then the lesson is considered completed and no make up will be scheduled. If less than 20 minutes has passed and a lesson is cancelled a make up lesson will be scheduled.

What is a Fast-Track vacation session?
Fast-Track vacation sessions are intensive, 4 day lesson programs we offer during school vacations. Fast Track is offered if we have staff available to instruct during vacation weeks.
